Group Fitness Drop-in Classes

Summer 2019  |  June 24 - August 18

  • All drop-in classes are part of your membership fee. This summer choose between fifteen different classes and activities representing over seventy hours of weekly programming. 
  • We are a user-pay facility.  If you are not a member, the drop-in fee must be paid. 
  • Activities are suitable for all levels of fitness - just do your best. If you aren't sure about your physical ability, please call our Program Coordinator at 250-960-5335 to discuss.
  • Class dates/times and instructors are subject to change or be cancelled at any time for illness, facility bookings and other activities.
  • No classes June 30, July 1 (Canada Day Long Weekend) and August 3, 4, 5 (BC Day Long Weekend).

Code of Conduct

A few things to remember to ensure a positive and respectful experience for everyone:

  • Please limit your use of scents such as perfume and cologne when attending these classes.
  • Children 13 - 15 can participate with a parent/guardian in attendance. Youth 16 - 18 are permitted without a parent/guardian.
  • Children under twelve are not permitted to participate or sit in on classes. They cannot sit outside the room or in the hallway while their parents participate.
  • Drop in fitness classes are closed to late arrivals. This prevents disrupting the instructor and the participants.
  • Pick up your NSC Class Pass at the Front Desk thirty (30) minutes before class time to confirm your spot. One pass per person.
  • Outdoor shoes are not permitted in the fitness areas.

Trainer on the Track

Tuesday:  6:00pm - 6:55pm

Join Lon every Tuesday night up on the Track where we've taken the traditional fitness orientation and made it a weekly and more personal event. Curious about kettlebells? Not sure how to use the weight machines? Lon knows! 

30+ Strength and Conditioning

Tuesday: 10:30am - 11:25am

Are you an athlete aged 30+ who is frustrated with limitations of aging and chronic injuries? Beginning with a movement assessment, this popular class led by Alisha teaches proper exercise techniques routines instrumental in decreasing the risk of injury while increasing physical longevity.

Boomer Fit

Monday, Wednesday and Friday
10:30am - 11:25am

This very popular 50+ class up in Zone 6 is lead by Alisha and Brook who bring a healthy movement philosophy to every class. They will get you on your way to fitness or improving your fitness level. If you have medical issues that have have limited your participation in other fitness activities, Boomer Fit is for you.

Cardio Dance for Beginners

This class breaks for the summer and returns September 2019.

This accessible cardio class is perfect for those who love to dance and appreciate the cardio benefits. Dance your way to fitness in Studio 1 with the motivating Latin moves and music of merengue, samba, salsa and more. Led by local dancer Paz, no dance experience is required! 

Circuit Blast

This class breaks for the summer and returns September 2019.

Head over to Zone 5 for this 45 minute circuit run on our multi-station jungle gym. This class will increase your heart rate, body temperature and encourages speed, strength and cardiovascular and endurance benefits. You must be 16+ years of age to participate. 

Cycle Fit

Monday: 9:00am - 9:55am
Wednesday: 6:00am - 6:55am

Head up to Zone 6 for this this high intensity class that will challenge your cycling performance, cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance. If you want to take your cycle fitness to a higher level, this is your class. Cycle Fit is suitable for riders fresh off the training wheels as well as those seeking a new challenge.

Rebecca leads Monday and Brook teaches Wednesday.

Cycle n' Core

Monday:  6:00am - 6:55am
Friday: 6:00am - 6:55am

We combined Cycle Fit and Core Fit to create this new class! Brook will lead you through 35 minutes of cycling and 20 minutes of core work on the floor up in Zone 6 to get you fit and energized!  

Strong 'n Fit

Wednesday: 9:00am - 9:55am
Friday: 9:00am - 9:55am

Get strong and fit in our upbeat group strength class using bars and dumbbell weights. You will train to improve full body strength and endurance with engaging and dynamic routines. Our instructors guarantee a unique twist to each class!

Yoga Flow

Tuesday: 7:00pm - 7:55pm
Wednesday: 5:00pm - 5:55pm
Saturday: 10:00am - 10:55am

Yoga Flow offers a modern approach to the ancient practice of yoga by incorporating dynamic movement and classical breathing techniques. Located in Studio 1, this practice will leave you feeling rejuvenated by guiding you through creative sequences designed to balance the mind and body.

Tuesday is led by Denise, Wednesday is Denise M and Saturday's instructor is Alisha.

Core Fit

This class breaks for the summer and returns September 2019.

This thirty minute "ish" blast to your mid-section is offered three times per week! This fun and effective workout will improve posture, increase balance and reduce back pain. A combination of plyometric cardio and core stability routines will find those abs you forgot you had! 

Cycle 'n Sculpt

Monday: 5:00pm - 5:55pm

Thursday: 9:00am - 9:55am

This class offers both strength and sweat! Be ready to push through hill climbs and sprints on our bikes followed by a challenging conditioning workout using weights.  Rebecca teaches both classes so head up to Zone 6 and bike your way to fitness. 

Fit Camp

Tuesday: 9:00am - 9:55am
Tuesday:  5:00pm - 5:55pm
Thursday: 5:00pm - 5:55pm

Northern Sport Centre’s signature boot camp will take amp up your fitness using an interval-based workout. No drill sergeants, but all the hard-core conditioning you can handle. Train with cutting edge methods and equipment to create a healthier you.

Alisha teaches Tuesday morning, Lon Tuesday night and Rebecca on Thursday.

Gentle Yoga

Wednesday:  12:00pm - 12:55pm
Friday: 12:00pm - 12:55pm
Sunday: 9:00am - 9:55am

Gentle Yoga is a great class if you are new to yoga or just need to slow down. The class is slower paced and you will receive assistance while building a foundation to improve your strength and balance. Vivian leads Wednesday and Friday, and Denise teaches Sunday.


This class breaks over the summer and returns September 2019. 

Nia is a fun, energizing and inspirational fitness experience! Nia uniquely blends dance, martial arts & the healing arts, with a variety of eclectic music and simple, creative, choreography. This combination encourages self-expressions while creating power, precision, mindfulness and grounding. Nia also provides you with space for self-healing, focus, awareness and relaxation. Join Kathleen for this non-impact, practiced barefoot, and adaptable to individual needs and abilities class. Youth 13 - 15 are permitted with a parent/guardian in attendance/participating.

Power Yoga

This class breaks over the summer and returns September 2019.

Power Yoga is the perfect blend of combining strength and relaxation all into one class. Using traditional yoga poses integrated with dynamic vinyasas and challenging postures you will build strength and concentration. Enjoy a peaceful savasana and leave feeling calm and empowered.  

Tai Chi

This class breaks over the summer and returns September 2019.

Tai Chi's gentle movements combine yoga and meditation followed by smooth and graceful transitions. Local instructor Paz Milburn, teaches the 24 Simplified Yang Style derived from the Taoist principle and Chen Style of Tai Chi. You will calm your mind, improve balance and connect with your “chi” the vital force that Chinese philosophy believes animates the body. You must be 16+ years of age to participate in this class.

Using suspension and body weight training tools, TRX was created for Navy SEALS and Army Rangers.  See why they use it to condition themselves into the best warriors and athletes on the planet!  Brook teaches this popular program. You must be 16 years + to participate in this class. 

Ultrafit TRX

This class breaks over the summer and returns September 2019. 

Love TRX but want to amp it up? Head up to the track where Brook will teach you how to use the TRX equipment and other strength training tools such as medicine balls and battle ropes. Offered Friday morning, this circuit style class will build strength and balance.  You must be 16+ to participate in this class. 

Yin Yoga

Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 10:30am - 11:40am

Take time to restore, relax and return to your breath through a slow, nourishing practice led by Vivian. In the practice of Yin, allow your body to passively release into deeper relaxation and flexibility. Join Vivian in Studio 1 for all these classes.

Enjoy the ancient practice of uniting your breath and physical postures to acquire improved flexibility, balance, strength and mental clarity. Yoga is for all levels and abilities and can range in style depending on the instructor’s teaching practice. No previous yoga experience is necessary!

Vivian leads Monday and Alisha teaches Thursday.

Led by Benita, Zumba is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party™ !  Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you'll see why Zumba® Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise.
