No classes over the Easter Long Weekend (April 19 - 22).

  • Each session ranges between 6 - 8 weeks. 
  • Classes are accessible to all fitness levels - just do your best.
  • If you are unsure about your physical ability to participate, please speak with the class instructor directly or call our Program Coordinator at 250 960 5335.
  • Children are not permitted to sit in on classes, outside the door or in the hallway. 
  • As a courtesy to all, please limit your use of scents such as cologne, hair spray when attending classes.
  • Outdoor shoes are not permitted in any fitness areas.
  • Instructors may change and classes cancelled any time to accommodate illness and facility bookings.  Read our Refund Policy here.

ACTIVE AGING CLASSES ​

NEW! Active Aging Step

Led by Laurie, this new class is sure to be popoular! In a group exercise setting, adults 55+ will build agility, balance and cardio with step interval routines that will challenge muscle endurance, core and stretching. Reduce your risk of injury while increasing physical longevity.

NEW! Active Aging Strength

If you were a fan of our Active Aging class, don’t miss this new modified version. Intervals of cardio endurance on the spin bikes or the track will be paired with challenging strength exercises using barbells, dumbbells and body bars.

Stability balls or Bosu will also be introduced to improve balance, core strength and range of motion.

Active Aging TRX

You can expect to target every major muscle group as well as improve balance, flexibility and cardio with this popular program. Using the TRX suspension apparatus, participants 55+ will use intervals of strength and endurance exercises in conjunction with cardiovascular training on the track or spin bikes. Stability balls or Bosu may be used here as well to complement.

Fusion Strength (Level 1)

This popular program builds muscle strength right at the core! Deep stabilizing core muscles are activated and strengthened while using tools such as stability balls, sliders, hand weights and resistance bands to strengthen and balance total body. The class ends with an energizing and lengthy passive stretch.

MIND BODY

Aerial Yoga

Back by popular demand, Aerial Yoga takes your traditional yoga practice to new heights!

New for 2019, we are offering two different learning opportunities depending on your comfort and ability:  All Levels and Advanced. Only register for the Advanced if you have taken an Aerial Yoga class before and are familiar and comfortable with the practice. If you are not sure, please contact our Programmer at 250 960 5335.

Led by Jenna, both classes utilize the aerial hammock as a prop to your regular practice on the ground. It incorporates rejuvenating inversions, poses and vinyasas that allow your spine to decompress leaving you relaxed and empowered.

We cannot accept participants that are pregnant, have glaucoma, vertigo or high/low blood pressure due to inversions and hammock use. Please contact the Programmer if you have any questions.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi's gentle movements combine yoga and meditation followed by smooth and graceful transitions. Local instructor Paz Milburn, teaches the 24 Simplified Yang Style derived from the Taoist principle and Chen Style of Tai Chi. You will calm your mind, improve balance and connect with your “chi” the vital force that Chinese philosophy believes animates the body. You must be 16+ years of age to participate in this class.

ULTRA FIT CLASSES

Circuit Blast

Head over to Zone 5 for this 45 minute circuit run on our multi-station jungle gym. This class will increase your heart rate, body temperature and encourages speed, strength and cardiovascular and endurance benefits. Maximum twelve participants and you must be 16+ years of age to participate.

Lon and James alternate teaching every Saturday.

Fit Barre

Fit Barre is a muscle conditioning based class using the ballet bar, light weights and a Bender Ball. Focus on getting strong like a dancer without having to be one. Brook teaches each class and promises a great workout while having a ton of fun! No shoes or experience required but you must be 16+ years of age to participate.

Registration Details​

  • No refunds after the first class unless:
    • Medical Reason - If a participant has a medical condition that does not allow them to safely continue in the program, a doctor's note must be provided. Upon withdrawal from the program, the participant will be subject to a $25.00 admin fee and payment for course fees that already ran.
    • Class Cancellation - If the program is cancelled by the Northern Sport Centre, all fees and deposits will be returned less the charges for classes that did run. Programs may be cancelled due to instructor availability or if the minimum number of participants is not met.
    • Instructor Recommendation - If the instructor feels the participant cannot safely or adequately participate, they can recommend a refund less any classes that did run. 
  • Register in person (credit card, cash, debit, cheque) or telephone 250 960 6366 (credit card only).
  • Full payment is required to confirm registration.
  • Refunds may be given up to five (5) days prior to the class starting and will be subject to a $25.00 admin fee. 
  • Sessions range 6 - 8 weeks in length. 
  • Classes not meeting the minimum enrolment 48 hours prior to start date may be cancelled.
  • Registration fees will be pro-rated for any cancelled classes.
  • Prices do not include taxes. 
  • Register early to avoid disappointment.
  • Instructors may change without notice and classes cancelled.
