Adding videos to webpages
An update was made on the video paragraph type that affects the way you will manage your existing embedded videos moving forward.
Hero images on landing pages
A couple of months ago UNBC web editors might have noticed a slight change to the landing page for their section(s) of the UNBC website. In our previous version of the website, many departments displayed an image rotator at the top of their landing pages that could be used to scroll through a series of images with captions and links to other webpages.
Web solutions for academic websites and online forms
Are you a UNBC faculty member or student who wants to create an academic website or an online form? You may want to consider using OpenETC or Microsoft Office Forms to host your content.
Website maintenance: Tuesday, November 25
On Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 10:00 p.m. PST we will be performing maintenance on the UNBC website. The website outage window will be approximately 2 hours. Access to the website and the web editor login will be unavailable during this time.
UNBC website quality assurance with Siteimprove
The web team in Communications and Marketing has implemented a web governance tool at UNBC called Siteimprove. This tool assists in website quality assurance. Siteimprove is cloud-based software available to all UNBC web editors that helps facilitate the content auditing process.
Standards for navigation menus
The web team develops and maintains the standards for navigation menus on the UNBC website. This includes the global navigation in the headers and footers, as well as the left menus in each section of the website (i.e. local menus). We consider things such as terminology that makes sense to our users, placement of links that are common across different sections, and content that does not belong in the menu.
Adding and updating links in local menus
When adding a new link to a local menu, the web page needs to be built and published first.
