Hero images on landing pages
A couple of months ago UNBC web editors might have noticed a slight change to the landing page for their section(s) of the UNBC website. In our previous version of the website, many departments displayed an image rotator at the top of their landing pages that could be used to scroll through a series of images with captions and links to other webpages.
Instead of image rotators, we have placed a story/announcement hero image at the top of each landing page. This hero image always displays the most recent news story or announcement published to your section of the website.
We received feedback from some departments saying the stories showing up on the new hero images are not always relevant or become outdated when there haven't been any recent stories published. We agree with this feedback, so we are revisiting the landing page hero images.
Action item for web editors: Please visit the landing page for your section(s) of the website to see if the hero image at the top of your page is suitable. If you don't think it should be there, please submit a website support request to let us know and we will remove it for you. We can replace it with a static featured content display (with an image, caption, and link of your choosing), or you can log in and add a full-size image (without a caption or link) to the top of your landing page instead.
We appreciate your feedback!
