  • Backcountry Park Facility Operator -- Tweedsmuir Provincial Park. Awesome job as the PFO on the Turner Lake Canoe Chain where you will manage backcountry canoe chain under contract with BC Parks. Job duties include outfitting clients with canoes, providing information about the canoe chain, trail/portage maintenance, cleaning of campgrounds, chainsawing trees and bucking/chopping for firewood. High physical fitness required, experienced in wilderness skills and flatwater canoeing, ability to live in isolated wilderness setting for several weeks at a time.

It will be a mix of physical work and mental work, all related to parks and ecosystem management.     • The British Columbia Conservation Corps (BCCC) is an exciting new program that provides work opportunities for students and recent graduates who may be considering a career in the environmental sector. What can I do once I graduate? 

The Nature-Based Tourism Degree and the Outdoor Recreation and Conservation Degree will prepare you for a great career, in Canada and overseas. The fields of recreation and tourism have amazing diversity. Federal, provincial/state and municipal governments, quasi-public agencies such as YMCA and Girl Scouts, industry or employee services, cultural arts, university/college teaching, private/commercial/tourism operations are all potential employers.
 
Opportunities for employment in the recreation, parks and tourism services field are broad and diverse. Since recreation and tourism depends upon individual attitudes, resources, financial capabilities, and educational awareness, career opportunities are as numerous as human interests and needs.

  • ORTM Student Marketing Assistant (short-term job) - We're looking for an ORTM student to work with us (part-time) over the next few months -schedule flexible. 
  • 2 positions - Recreation Program Assistant, Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts (1 in Northern Interior Region - Prince George and 1 in Victoria). Two great positions offered by MTSA for ORTM students who want to gain some valuable field experience and achieve academic credit thru internship (ORTM 440) or thru co-op. ORTM students should indicate that they are current students and can meet requirements thru our internship option. Note the required components for submission.

  • 4 positions for Monkman Pass Memorial Trail with Ministry of Tourism, Sport and the Arts and the Wolverine Mountain Nordic Society of Tumbler Ridge. [The start date will be early/mid June for training/admin type stuff for a couple of weeks, field work mid to late June to the mid/end of August, and one/two week clean up and report writing. Pay rate between $15.00 to $18.00/hr]
  • Purcell Mountain Lodge, Seasonal On-Site Lodge Manager -

    Responsible for all seasonal staff hiring, training, supervision, the operation of all (summer and winter) guest services and programs, safety, lodge and systems maintenance, etc. The job will of course require the successful candidate to reside in the backcountry for about three weeks of every active month, and will permit a month or more off in both the spring and the fall if that is important to the candidate. Salary commensurate with experience, but this is a career position with benefits available, and requires an experienced professional with a good interactive personality, strong organizational skills, and some significant practical skills that are applicable to the maintenance and operation of a full service backcountry lodge.
