Biography

Melanie Raymond is a Senior Instructor in the School of Education (South-Central campus in Quesnel, B.C.). She completed her MEd in School and Applied Psychology from the University of Calgary and is licensed by the College of Health and Care Professionals of B.C.

Since 2012, she has provided school psychology services in several public school districts, independent schools and First Nation School Association schools across the northern and interior regions (i.e., Haida Gwaii, Coast Mountains, Cariboo-Chilcotin, and Quesnel). Melanie also holds a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Special Education from the University of British Columbia and is a B.C. Certified Teacher. She completed the Teacher Education program as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (major) and Psychology (minor), at Simon Fraser University.

Prior to becoming a School Psychologist, Melanie was a classroom and Inclusive Education teacher for over ten years in the Lower Mainland and on Haida Gwaii.

Research and Expertise

I am interested in culturally appropriate, evidence-based school psychology and educational practices in K-12 classrooms; learning and intellectual disability assessment and diagnosis; effective instruction in the classroom and during interventions; foundational skills development in literacy and numeracy, and inclusive education.
