Biography

Tristan Pearce is a Professor in the Geography Program at the University of Northern British Columbia, where he is also the Canada Research Chair in the Cumulative Impacts of Environmental Change. His research examines climate change impacts, adaptation, and vulnerability, pioneering community-based research approaches, and linking scientific and traditional knowledge to better understand ecosystem changes and implications for livelihoods. With a research focus upon communities in the Circumpolar Arctic, he also has research projects in Australia, Pacific Islands Region, and elsewhere in Canada.

The author of >70 peer-reviewed papers, Tristan’s publications have been cited >10,000 times. He is internationally recognized for advancing Indigenous governance in research and identifying areas of complementarity in scientific and traditional knowledge for environmental assessment and decision-making.
