What makes UNBC unique?

Broad Training

Our graduates are broadly trained for future careers in research, teaching, governance and/or protection and management of natural spaces, ecosystems and resources

Ideal Location

If you are studying in the natural resources and environmental fields, UNBC is in a great location with natural laboratories and wilderness all around (no giant metropolis here) and lots of recreational and social opportunities outside the classroom.

Small Classes

You will not get lost in the crowd at NRES. Our graduate cohort averages around 140 students every year. You’ll have smaller classes and your professors will know who you are. Our faculty supervisors offer opportunities for close professional working relationships in smaller groups.

Tuition Grants

PhD candidates receive an automatic four year tuition grant.
