Training Physicians in the North, for the North

The Northern Medical Program (NMP) is part of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Along with the Island Medical Program and the Southern Medical Program, this distributed medical program was the first of its kind in North America and has proven to be a highly successful model of distributed education.

Through UBC's Admissions Office, 32 students are welcomed into the NMP every year, beginning their first semester in Vancouver at UBC in September, and then arriving at UNBC's Prince George campus in January for the remainder of their medical education.

In 2015, the Northern Medical Program is celebrating its 10th anniversary of delivering medical education in the north.
