is to establish cohorts that are diverse, dynamic and balanced.
The number of spaces in the

Admission Criteria
The UNBC MBA program as described within is subject to the
recommendation of the Degree Quality Assessment Board and approval by
the Ministry of Advanced Education. Changes to the UNBC MBA program
could occur at any time. To be eligible for consideration, each
applicant to the UNBC MBA program must meet the general admission
criteria outlined below. Those who do not meet these criteria may be
considered for admission according to the Exceptional Admission
criteria listed below. One of the goals of the admissions process is to
establish cohorts that are diverse, dynamic and balanced.
Academic Background
A four-year (120 credit hours) undergraduate degree (or equivalent)
from a recognized university with a grade point average of at least 3.0
(B) in the work of the last 60 credit hours (approximately the last two
years) leading to the baccalaureate degree is required. No specific
major is required, and students from a variety of undergraduate
disciplines are encouraged to apply.
One full set of official transcripts must be submitted directly from
each post-secondary institution attended. Transcripts must cover all
post-secondary work, including post baccalaureate studies, whether a
degree had been earned or not. An official transcript must clearly
indicate course grades for each semester/year of post-secondary level
study or equivalent.
If the institution provides transcripts in a language other than
English, a notarized English translation is required. If your
transcript does not indicate that your degree was conferred, you must
send a copy of the degree certificate.
Note: Applications from applicants who do not possess an undergraduate
degree, have a three-year undergraduate degree or who have an
undergraduate degree with a grade point average of less than 3.0 (B) in
the last 60 credit hours, but who have other outstanding
qualifications, such as a professional designation, may be considered.
For these candidates a personal interview may be required.
Professional Background
Three years of relevant full-time work in a managerial or professional
position, excluding any training period, is required. Outline your
participation in any extra-curricular activities, community work or
other organizations identifying the date of your involvement in such
activities.
A curriculum vitae or resume must be submitted summarizing all
positions held beginning with the most recent and specifying for each:
- Name of company
- Type of company
- Exact position title
- Duration of employment
- Nature of duties, responsibilities and achievements
Exceptional Admission
Under special circumstances, applications from applicants who do not
meet the criteria set out in the Academic Background and/or the
Professional Background sections may be considered for admissions based
on other exceptional qualifications or strengths. These applicants will be required to participate in a personal interview which is intended
to assess the applicant’s need for additional coursework to ensure
success in the program.
Applicants must include three letters of
recommendation. They may be from academics, colleagues, supervisors
and/or significant clients who can attest to the candidate’s
performance academically, or in the workplace in which they have gained
experience. The references are to be submitted in sealed envelopes sent directly from the referee.
Referee forms are now available as an alternative to a letter of
reference. It is your referee's choice to supply either the completed
form or a letter of reference, or they can do both. Print three copies,
fill out the top section and supply one to each of your references.
Statement of Academic Interest (Letter of Intent)
All applicants are required to submit a statement of academic interest.
This information is used to gain a more thorough and comprehensive
picture of you as an individual. Please respond thoughtfully and
thoroughly.
The following questions can serve as guidelines for the letter.
- Describe yourself, emphasizing your strengths and weaknesses and any major influences that have shaped your interests.
