Camp transfers will be considered by Active Minds administration but are however, dependent on registration numbers. There is no fee for transferring to a different camp or cancelling from the waitlist.
If a participant needs to withdraw from a camp; a refund will be given up to two weeks prior to registered camp start date, minus a $25.00 administration fee. Less than two weeks prior to registered camp start date 50% of registration cost with refunded. No refunds will be issued for a withdrawal with less than one week notice prior to the registered camp start date.
Code of Conduct
In addition to providing a sound educational environment for intellectual pursuits, UNBC is concerned with developing socially responsible citizens, ensuring the welfare and freedom of all members of the UNBC community, and protecting individual rights. UNBC is thus concerned with the quality of student conduct and has adopted rules and behavioural standards for its students. Disciplinary action may be imposed when a student fails to recognize or violates the rights and freedoms of other individuals or behaves in a manner not consistent with program policies both on and off campus.
I. Standards of Conduct
The following forms of conduct are forbidden and are subject to disciplinary action as provided hereafter:
A. Primary Violations
i. Disorderly or disruptive conduct which substantially threatens harms or interferes with program personnel or orderly program operations.
ii. Physical assault or attempted assault, upon the person of any student, employee, or officer of the Active Minds Camp or anyone visiting or passing through the UNBC campus.
iii. Utterance of threats by any means of communication, including but not limited to threats of physical abuse of any student, employee, officer of UNBC, guest of UNBC or organization.
iv. Theft or attempted theft of the property or services of the campus, its students, employees, officers or organizations or that of any individual or organization visiting or passing through the campus.
v. Possession and/or consumption of alcoholic beverages and marijuana and/or illegal drugs is strictly prohibited.
vi. Weapons of any kind and items that could cause injury or damage to participants and/or property are strictly forbidden.
vii. Destruction or vandalism of the campus or personal property of the campus, its students, employees, officers or organizations or that of any individual or organization visiting or passing through the campus.
viii. Commission of any act which results in the infliction of harm to any person or damage to campus property or the property of others by willful and deliberate means or through negligence.
Individual students found to have violated this Code shall be subject to restitution if appropriate and to the following range of penalties.
a. Disciplinary Reprimand: The student is informed verbally that his or her behavior is in violation of Active Minds regulations. It is an assumption that repetition of behavior is not likely. However, it is to be understood that further misconduct may result in additional disciplinary action. The camper’s parents, guardians or sponsors will be notified of behavior.
b. Loss of Privileges: The student is informed verbally and in writing that his or her behavior is in violation of Active Minds regulations. He or she may lose the privilege of participating in a specific activity or a set duration of the day or the whole day; parents may be called to pick their child up. The camper’s parents, guardians or sponsors will be notified.
c. Expulsion: The student is informed verbally and in writing that he or she has been expelled from the Active Minds program. The camper’s parents, guardians or sponsors will be informed and asked to pick the camper up.
