Biography

I am a Research Climatologist with the BC Ministry of Forests, specializing in hydro-climatology. My work centres on understanding extreme climate events and climate change, particularly how large-scale climate variability influences surface conditions. This includes investigating phenomena such as atmospheric rivers and heatwaves, and the underlying mechanisms that drive them. Previously, I conducted postdoctoral research with Canada Wildfire (Natural Resources Canada & University of Alberta) and the University of Northern British Columbia. I am proficient in R, RShiny and QGIS for large and hydroclimate and geospatial data analysis and interactive applications.

Research and Expertise

My research focuses on the dynamics and impacts of extreme climate events. I am particularly interested in how large-scale climate variability influences phenomena such as atmospheric rivers and heatwaves, which contribute significantly to flooding and wildfires, respectively. My work seeks to uncover the underlying mechanisms that drive the frequency, intensity, and spatial patterns of these extremes, with an emphasis on their interconnected nature and potential for compound impacts.
