Dr. Farnaz Gooya is an International Medical Graduate, IMG, and a trained physician who successfully practiced medicine for 15 years as a general practitioner. Highly interested in medical education, especially teaching fundamental health sciences courses, she joined UNBC in Sept 2023 as a senior lab instructor, SLI. At Health Sciences School, she teaches undergraduate students, runs the physiology and anatomy labs and participates in lecturing the related courses. In the labs, her students learn how to follow the experimental guidelines, perform the experiments with non-invasive physiology and anatomy kits, and interpret their data scientifically via accredited academic and scientific references. Moreover, they learn the benefits of the physiology and anatomy lab experiments in clinical practice which is helpful in starting a smooth transition from theory to clinical practice for students applying for professional schools.
