  • The position of Natural Resources Assistant will assist the BVRC with a variety of administrative tasks, research projects, and community outreach initiatives. The student will work with the Communications and Extension Coordinator to organize our library of research outputs in order to meet our goal of making all BVRC research project outcomes publicly accessible. Part of this work includes digitizing our hard copy files. The student will also provide assistance to different researchers on their research projects. Additionally, the student will assist in coordinating outreach events with the general public in order to elevate science and highlight the role of science in our lives. This position is great for a full-time returning student, studying in the life, earth, or social sciences with an emphasis on interdisciplinary studies.

  • The Bulkley Valley Research Centre - Irving Fox Memorial Scholarship for Natural and Cultural Resources Research and Management is awarded to a student from northwestern British Columbia or a student enrolled in or entering studies in natural and cultural resources research and/or management in northwestern British Columbia.  The value of the award is $750 - $1000.

Field Research Assistant
  • A UNBC grad student will be hiring a summer Field Research Assistant to help collect plant and soil data in support of her Master of Science thesis research, based out of the Terrace campus.
    • July through August, 2018 (6 weeks, dates to be determined).
    • Wage is $15/hour (plus overtime for any long field days).
  • The research objectives are to identify environmental factors and management practices that promote vegetation recovery on deactivated or closed forest roads after timber harvesting. The abundance of different plant species will be described and soil samples will be collected for laboratory analysis.
