Traditional land acknowledgement
For millennia, Indigenous Peoples have inhabited and stewarded the diverse traditional territories where the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) communities now reside. UNBC's Convocation Office is dedicated to fostering relationships with Indigenous peoples and gratefully acknowledges their ancestral lands.
Campus locations
- Main campus (Prince George, B.C.): Unceded territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation.
- South-Central campus (Quesnel, B.C.): Unceded territories of the Lhtako Dene Nation, Nazko First Nation, Lhoosk’uz Dené Nation, and ?Esdilagh First Nation.
- Northeast campus (Fort St. John, B.C.): Treaty 8 territory on the lands of the Dane-zaa peoples.
- Northwest campus (Terrace, B.C.): Unceded territory of the Ts’msyen (Tsimshian) people, with a satellite campus in Prince Rupert on the lands of the Lax Kw’alaams Band and Metlakatla First Nation.
- Wilp Wilxo’oskwhl Nisga’a Institute (Gitwinksihlkw, B.C.): Gitwinksihlkw Village Lands within Nisga’a Treaty Territory.

Gift of a personalized graduation video
Graduates participating in Convocation in Prince George will be gifted a personalized StageClip, or graduation video, within a week of their Convocation Ceremony. Graduates are advised to check their UNBC email for the link to the clip, which can be shared with friends and family on their social media platforms.

UNBC sustainable event certification
Event planning often generates a large carbon footprint. As Canada’s Green University™ and in line with UNBC's new vision of "Leading a Sustainable Future", the Convocation Office is committed to minimizing its environmental impact by adopting guidelines set out in the Sustainable Event Certification. In 2025, Convocation achieved the highest level of recognition at the platinum level.
