Ready to lead meaningful change

The sense of belonging Sean Robinson found while pursuing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree at UNBC ignited his curiosity, critical thinking skills and dedication to inclusion, empowering him to become a thoughtful leader and advocate for change. Robinson will reflect on the guidance of family, the transformative power of education and the importance of engaging with diverse worldviews in his valedictory address during Ceremony 1 of UNBC’s 2025 Convocation.

UNBC to celebrate 32nd Convocation

Students, faculty and staff will come together to recognize and celebrate the hard work, dedication and resilience of the Class of 2025 at University events taking place across northern B.C. from May 30 to June 11.

Dakelh Elder and UNBC founding member to receive honorary degree

‘En Cha Huná — UNBC’s motto from the Dakelh Nak’azdli dialect, meaning “respecting all forms of life,” was suggested by students in the University’s first Carrier language course. Fittingly, this year’s honorary degree recipient was part of that class and has spent her life embodying the spirit of the motto through her deep respect for others, openness to diverse perspectives and passion for sharing knowledge.

Long-serving northern B.C. leader to receive honorary degree

Guided by a deep commitment to northern British Columbia, Shirley Bond’s groundbreaking political career and tireless advocacy have shaped vital investments in education, healthcare and infrastructure — building stronger communities across the region she calls home.
