What are atmospheric rivers?
UNBC Stories
UNBC researcher Dr. Stephen Déry explains the science behind atmospheric rivers.
This fall, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada/Rio Tinto Industrial Research Chair in Climate Change and Water Security Dr. Stephen Déry led a team of researchers on the Tahtsa Ranges Atmospheric Rivers Experiment to better understand the impacts of these extreme weather events on the Nechako Watershed.
Déry explains what an atmospheric river is and why we can expect more of these storms in the years to come.
