Environmental Science & Engineering
Environmental and ecological problems are of increasing concern to Canadians. In northern British Columbia, the concerns are especially acute in resource based economies.
As one of
the four Environmental degrees at UNBC, Environmental Science seeks to
train scientists who will understand how the environment functions, and
how to mitigate effects on the environment when functions and processes
are disrupted.
Engineers serve society across a wide range of
sectors, ensuring economic growth and high quality of life in British
Columbia, Canada and the World. BC is particularly aware of the need to
integrate environmental and economic factors, and environmental
engineers are best prepared to meet that challenge. Our
professionally-trained engineers are given a solid background in
environmental analysis and engineering design and the ability to work
across a wide range of disciplines.

Combining the respected technical expertise of engineering with critical understanding of environmental issues.
The Master of Science (NRES - Environmental Science) is for students whose research interests have a scientific or engineering focus.
The
Master of Natural Recources and Environmental Studes is designed to
integrate the completmentary aspects of resource and environmental
issues melding traditional science with social sceince perspectives.
The
PhD(NRES) offers students the opportunity to develop an advanced level
of understanding and training in any one or a combination of scientific
disciplines related to natural environments.
