Announcement

Dr. George Iwama, UNBC President, responds to calls for more engineers in the North at the Natural Resource Forum in Prince George, January 2012.

UNBC Alumni Kosta Sainis
UNBC Environmental Engineering grad, Kosta Sainis, from Terrace BC, is the Energy Manager at Endako mines near Fraser Lake, BC.

Environmental and ecological problems are of increasing concern to Canadians. In northern British Columbia, the concerns are especially acute in resource based economies.

As one of the four Environmental degrees at UNBC, Environmental Science seeks to train scientists who will understand how the environment functions, and how to mitigate effects on the environment when functions and processes are disrupted.

Engineers serve society across a wide range of sectors, ensuring economic growth and high quality of life in British Columbia, Canada and the World. BC is particularly aware of the need to integrate environmental and economic factors, and environmental engineers are best prepared to meet that challenge.  Our professionally-trained engineers are given a solid background in environmental analysis and engineering design and the ability to work across a wide range of disciplines.
