Board of Governors to Hold Public Meeting and Reception in Terrace
September 7, 2007
With a new campus and expanded local programming, UNBC’s Board of
Governors will be meeting in Terrace next week and holding a public
reception to celebrate the new campus’s official opening.
The reception will take place on Friday, September 14, from 7-9pm at
the Terrace campus. Members of the Board will join the President,
senior officers of the University, and faculty and staff from the
Terrace campus. All are welcome.
The Board meeting itself will be held in the Chinook Room of the Best
Western hotel, beginning at 8am on Saturday, September 15. Items on the
agenda will include an update on enrolment projections, campus planning
and potential future expansion, the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre
opening and the expansion of university athletics, and the
implementation of UNBC’s academic vision.
“UNBC’s growth in Terrace is definitely one of the University’s success
stories and it speaks to the opportunities we have to expand our
profile and offerings throughout the North,” says UNBC President Don
Cozzetto. “I would encourage local residents to take the opportunity to
meet with us and members of our Board. Share with us your ideas for how
to make UNBC more relevant to the needs and aspirations of the
Northwest region.”
UNBC’s new Terrace campus is located at 4837 Keith Avenue. It more than
doubles UNBC’s space in Terrace and is enabling the expansion of
academic programming in such areas as Nursing, Education, Social Work,
First Nations Studies, and an Aboriginal Teacher Education.
The Board of Governors is one of two governing bodies at UNBC. The
other is the Senate. While the Board is responsible for personnel and
the administrative functioning of the University, the Senate oversees
the quality of the academic offerings.
