UNBC and Faculty Ratify Agreement
April 1, 2006
The Board of Governors for the University of Northern
British Columbia has ratified a new, four-year
agreement with the University’s Faculty Association. Recently, the faculty also
endorsed the agreement, with a ratification vote of 94% in favour.
The
new agreement takes effect on July 1, 2006 and expires at the end of June,
2010. In addition to the $3700 incentive bonus for each full-time member of the
Faculty Association, the members will receive – on average – close to 13% in
wage increases over the four years of the contract.
The
Faculty Association represents about 450 faculty, librarians, and senior
laboratory instructors.
In
addition, the Board has approved a new agreement for the University’s CUPE
employees subject to ratification by the support staff.
These
two agreements were reached prior to the Government of BC’s March 31st deadline and all are for
a period of four years.
