The MRU Cougars came out with a solid defensive effort Saturday night. The Cougars reeked havoc in the Timberwolves backcourt, forcing 31 turnovers and 14 steals. The defensive effort was enormous, as they managed to shut down the size of the UNBC Timberwolves. The two third years were able to hook up for a great play in the third quarter, as Angela Driscoll sliced through the defence and dished it to Candice Duckett for the finish. Cougars rookie guard Abby Gibb (Calgary, AB) was resilient on defence, mustering up six steals for her team. Which helped lead to the 25 points scored off Timberwolves turnovers.

The UNBC Timberwolves had a strong effort, led by Kylie Pozniak (Okotoks, AB) and Vasiliki Louka (Athens, GRE) who finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists, four blocks and four steals. The Timberwolves had various dry spells, and at one point failed to score in 7:43.
