Intermediate Adobe Photoshop
This course builds on the skills, creative techniques, and concepts taught in Introduction to Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Photoshop is the standard editing program for many industries and professions, outputting to a wide range of file types.
This course will focus on editing and adjusting image files from a variety of sources to create digital paintings and/or illustrations, layout and design projects for print and/or web and devices, techniques to modify, adjust, distort, and apply filters to images, creating/designing characters, animating with a frame-by-frame process, editing video files, creating composite image files, distressing images and text, and creating and applying batch actions to folders of images.
Students will also learn through presentations, discussions, and critiques.
For online Adobe classes, students are responsible for purchasing their own software for class. Trial versions of the software are sometimes available on the Adobe website, but at this time there are no discounts available for Continuing Studies students.
This course is offered in partnership with OCAD University to offer a wide range of courses for enhancing your career expertise in web, design, photography, analytics, and technology.
Working with your OCAD U account
As a student, you will receive an OCAD U user account, which will grant you access to the OCAD U learning management system, called Canvas. Your Canvas account will be enabled one week prior to the start date of your course.

Learning Outcomes
- Build competency in Adobe Photoshop’s image editing capabilities
- Set up files and prepare digital artwork for a variety of professional output formats and uses
- Familiarize with Photoshop’s uses, menus, interfaces, panels and tool
- Ability to discern the correct resolution for digital images whether for print or on-screen use
- Demonstrate necessary skills to modify, adjust, distort, apply filters to images
- Edit and adjust image files from a variety of sources
- Produce composite image files for use in Illustrator and InDesign
- Create digital paintings, illustrations, design layouts
Course Requirements
For all online Adobe classes, students are responsible for purchasing their own software for their course. Trial versions of Adobe software are sometimes available on the Adobe company website. Regular access to a computer with a high-speed broadband internet connection is required.
Course Prerequisites
Introduction to Digital Photography or Introduction to Adobe Photoshop or equivalent experience.
