Introduction to Digital Photography
Learn to produce high-quality, professional photographs using your own digital SLR camera. This course will introduce students to digital SLR cameras, the basics of digital image files, and the processing of images in Adobe Photoshop. Students will also learn through presentations, discussions, and critiques.
This course is offered in partnership with OCAD University to offer a wide range of courses for enhancing your career expertise in web, design, photography, analytics, and technology.
Working with your OCAD U account
As a student, you will receive an OCAD U user account, which will grant you access to the OCAD U learning management system, called Canvas. Your Canvas account will be enabled one week prior to the start date of your course.

Learning Outcomes
- Explain the anatomy of digital camera and lenses
- Apply different shutter speed, aperture, and ISO
- Compose with autofocus
- Utilize form, geometry, and the basic theory of composition thoughtfully
- Distinguish between the working and downloading of JPEG and Raw files
- Demonstrate the basics of photographic editing software
Course Requirements
Students must have access to a digital SLR or mirrorless camera. Regular access to a computer with a high-speed broadband internet connection is required.
