Support options for UNBC students affected by sexual violence and misconduct
Experiencing sexualized violence can be deeply impactful. UNBC offers a range of confidential, respectful, and compassionate resources to help you navigate your options and find the support that feels right for you.
Response and Support Team (RST)
The RST provides confidential support to anyone impacted by sexualized violence. Grounded in a trauma-informed approach, the RST helps students explore their options, create safety plans, access resources, and navigate disclosure or reporting. The RST is also responsible for leading investigations and ensuring that the process is fair, transparent, and centered on the needs of those involved. Our team is made up of members of the UNBC community who are specially trained to provide compassionate, respectful support and guidance.

REES
UNBC has partnered with Respect, Educate, Empower Survivors (REES) to provide online reporting for sexual violence on campus.
REES allows members of our campus community to create a record of the incident and choose from multiple reporting options: Anonymous Report, Connect to My Campus, Repeat Perpetrator Identification (RPI).
REES features
- Make an anonymous report (cannot lead to a formal investigation).
- Connect with a designated UNBC staff member (anonymous communication is available through the Message Centre).
- Identify repeat perpetrators.
- Access community-based resources such as sexual assault centres, healthcare, and support services.
Start your report anytime and submit when you are ready. Take the time you need. REES can be accessed online anywhere, anytime.
Note: REES refers to anonymous submissions through their platform as an anonymous report. However, at UNBC, the term report refers to a formal process that can initiate an investigation. To clarify, an anonymous report submitted through REES cannot trigger a formal investigation, as it does not meet the reporting requirements outlined in UNBC’s policies and procedures. Therefore, UNBC views the REES anonymous report as a disclosure.
