Orientation is our chance to welcome new students and set the tone for their university experience—and we can’t do it without the support of our amazing campus community. Whether you're a student, staff, faculty member, or alum, volunteering for Orientation is a great way to connect, give back, and help create a memorable start for our newest Timberwolves.

We're looking for both Event Assistants and Orientation Leaders.

Event Assistants

We welcome current faculty, staff, and students to support the energy and success of Orientation and Weeks of Welcome activities!

As an Event Assistant, you can help with a variety of roles—from check-in and registration to running games during the welcome lunch. There are also opportunities to support our extended Welcome to UNBC 2025 programming, running from September 2 to 14. This could include:

Event Assistants play an essential role in helping new students transition to university life, discover what UNBC has to offer, and feel connected to our community from day one.

Even a few hours of your time can make a big impact—we’d love to have you on the team!

Orientation Leaders

Orientation Leaders (OLs) are current UNBC students and alumni who want to make a meaningful impact on the newest members of our university community. As an OL, you’ll be a guide, mentor, and friendly face—helping new students feel welcomed, supported, and excited to start their journey at UNBC.

As an Orientation Leader, you will:

  • Actively participate in one mandatory training session:
    • Tuesday, August 26 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. or

  • Lead and/or volunteer during Welcome to UNBC activities, running from September 1 to 16.
  • Guide a small cohort of up to 15 students, working alongside 1–2 fellow Orientation Leaders. You’ll meet with your group at multiple points during the first week, helping build connections and offering ongoing support.
  • Create flexible schedules with your co-leaders that align with your availability—we understand not all leaders can attend every event.
  • Assist new students with their transition to university and life in Prince George.
  • Encourage involvement in all aspects of campus life—from academics and services to fun events and social opportunities.

This is a great opportunity to build leadership skills, make new friends, and play an essential role in shaping the UNBC experience for incoming students.
