Dakelh Elder and UNBC founding member to receive honorary degree

‘En Cha Huná — UNBC’s motto from the Dakelh Nak’azdli dialect, meaning “respecting all forms of life,” was suggested by students in the University’s first Carrier language course. Fittingly, this year’s honorary degree recipient was part of that class and has spent her life embodying the spirit of the motto through her deep respect for others, openness to diverse perspectives and passion for sharing knowledge.

Northern voices lead energy conversations

UNBC Faculty of Environment Assistant Professor Dr. Sinead Earley and colleagues at the University of Victoria are leading transformative clean energy research through the Northern Regional Energy Dialogues (NRED). The five-year project expands on Earley's previous work to amplify northern voices and aims to strengthen community resilience, support community energy systems and enhance long-term economic stability throughout the region.

Research and community come together through Sahtú Dene and UNBC collaboration

A partnership between UNBC and the Sahtú Land and Water Board is supporting oilfield reclamation guided by Sahtú Dene knowledge. UNBC alumna Annie King is playing a key role in the research through her work in community engagement.
