Borrowing policies

Borrowing material

Patrons of the UNBC Library must present their valid library card to borrow materials. Patrons are responsible for all materials checked out on their account. Please note that your library account is blocked from further checkouts if fines reach $100.00 for students, faculty, staff, or $50.00 for alumni and external borrowers.

Recalled items

Items from the general collection are guaranteed a three-week loan period. After that they may be recalled.

"Recalled" means that an item already on loan has been requested by another patron and must be returned.

If an item is recalled:

  • You will receive an email notice alerting that an item was recalled and the item must be returned.
  • The new due date for recalled items is 7 days from the time the notice is sent. This may be shortened for items needed for course reserves.
