Nursing

The School of Nursing at UNBC offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs. Undergraduate offerings include a baccalaureate degree (offered in partnership with other northern B.C. institutions), and post-diploma and certificate programs. Graduate studies include various Master’s degree options.

The NMPT helps to fund a variety of learning experiences for students in the School of Nursing, including:


Undergraduate Nursing - Clinical placements

Open to those in their third and fourth year of studies, this NMPT funding helps support students during their clinical placements in various northern B.C. communities.

These placements provide them with clinical learning experiences and broaden their understanding of rural health service delivery.


Family Nurse Practioner, StudentNurse practitioners – Rural practicums

As part of their Master’s degree, nurse practitioner students pursue various clinical placements in rural communities and have the option to apply for NMPT funding to support these rural health learning opportunities. 


Family Nurse Practioner, MackenzieNurse Practitioner Graduate Awards

Two awards are available annually to UNBC Family Nurse Practitioner students who, upon graduation, accept a nursing position in a North Central Local Government Association community.


Rural Nurse Certificate Program – Travel support

Nurses who are pursuing this certificate program through UNBC can apply to receive support from the NMPT for travel-related expenses.
