2026 Graduate Student Ambassadors
2026 Graduate Student Ambassadors
Hello, I'm Ariadna Lopez, an MSc student in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies, researching innovative drug delivery systems.
When I first arrived at UNBC from Mexico, I felt lost. The uncertainty, the isolation. That sparked something in me: the belief that no graduate student should have to navigate this journey alone.
Every late night in the lab, every research breakthrough, every connection I've made has led me here.
I've mentored international students who arrived carrying the same fears I once did. I've organized events where I watched strangers become collaborators, where isolation turned into belonging. I've seen what happens when we choose community.
Your struggles are my struggles. Your victories are my victories.
I don't want to be your Graduate Student Ambassador (GSA) because I have all the answers; I want to be your GSA because I'm still asking the same questions you are:
- How do we balance studies with life?
- How do we turn imposter syndrome into unstoppable confidence?
- How do we build a graduate community that lifts everyone up?
But here's what I do know: I want to be your bridge. When you don't know where to turn or who to ask, I want to be your liaison, connecting you to the resources, people, and opportunities that UNBC has to offer. Too often, we struggle simply because we don't know the right door to knock on.
I'm here to close that gap between grads students and our university, ensuring no question goes unanswered and no student feels lost in the system.
Graduate school isn't just about earning a degree. It's about discovering who we become when we refuse to give up on our dreams.
Let's build something extraordinary together. Let's create the community we all deserve from day one.

My name is Ahanaf Tahmid, and I am a Graduate Student Ambassador. I am a second-year Master of Applied Science in Engineering.
As a Graduate Student Ambassador, my motivation is rooted in a genuine commitment to fostering a strong, inclusive, and supportive graduate community at UNBC. I believe that graduate studies are not only about advancing research and academic excellence but also about building connections, sharing resources, and supporting one another through the unique challenges of this journey.
I wanted to take on this role to ensure that every graduate student, whether new or continuing, feels welcomed, heard, and empowered to thrive. By helping organize events, sharing academic and wellness resources, and being a point of connection, I aim to strengthen the sense of belonging that makes our graduate community resilient and vibrant.
My goal is to represent your voice, celebrate your achievements, and create spaces where collaboration, mentorship, and mutual support can flourish across all disciplines.
