Unlock financial insight with the new Financial Management and Analysis Certificate! 

This new certificate provides an applied foundation in financial management for organizational success. 

Learners develop the ability to interpret, analyze, and communicate financial data to inform sound business decisions. 

Through hands-on exercises and case studies, students practice interpreting financial statements, assessing internal performance, and benchmarking success against industry standards. 

Developed in partnership with UNBC’s School of Business, this new professional development opportunity emphasizes compliance with Canadian regulations, focusing on key reporting and operational metrics, while prioritizing essential parameters for external reporting. Continuing Studies participants will join UNBC academic students in the classroom. 

Program Format: Two Stackable Micro-credentials

Complete both micro-credentials to earn your Financial Management and Analysis Certificate. Or just register for the micro-credential that appeals to you. 

Each micro-credential is delivered Tuesday nights, 6:00pm – 8:50pm at UNBC’s Prince George campus. 

Micro-credential 1 – Fundamentals of Financing Reporting and Budgeting

This micro-credential introduces core financial management principles for learners with limited accounting or finance experience. Learners gain practical skills in understanding financial statements, preparing budgets, and applying analytical tools to monitor performance and cash flow.

Micro-credential 2 – Applied Financial Analysis & Decision-Making 

This micro-credential focuses on applying financial management concepts through a capstone project using real company financial statements and case studies. Learners analyze realistic business scenarios to interpret performance, manage cash flows, evaluate budgets, and assess investment decisions. The emphasis is on integrating all skills from Micro-Credential 1 in practical decision contexts.


Who Should Enroll

This course is designed for professionals in supervisory, management, or project coordination roles who are responsible for planning, managing, or monitoring budgets but do not have formal training in accounting or finance.

This course does not require previous finance or accounting experience. It is designed for professionals who want to build confidence in interpreting financial reports, managing budgets, understanding key financial terms, and supporting sound financial decision-making in their teams or departments.

About the Instructor

Dr. Sra is a sustainability-focused academic with over a decade of teaching experience in accounting, finance, and sustainability. Her courses enhance critical thinking and applied decision-making skills. 

She is also actively engaged in curriculum development and sustainability initiatives within UNBC's School of Business. Additionally, she holds multiple certifications in climate literacy and sustainability education and contributes as a reviewer, session chair, and curriculum designer.
