The ultimate goal of this series is to help students create an effective research proposal at the graduate level, but the skills covered in each workshop will help students at any level improve their academic writing. All students are welcome to attend, including Undergraduates! No RSVP is required, just join the Zoom link at the workshop time.

In this session we will cover foundational skills for academic writing, including establishing essay structure, crafting thesis statements, developing paper outlines, and writing complete paragraphs.

Monday January 22: Referencing and Revision
Revision is an essential skill for university students. Join us for the third session in our academic writing workshop series, which will focus on the steps needed to turn a first draft into a final product. This session will cover referencing, revision, editing, and basic tips for Word formatting.

Monday January 29: Proposal Writing
Crafting a successful research proposal is an essential milestone for many graduate (and some undergraduate!) programs at UNBC. Join us for the final session in our academic writing workshop series, where we will examine the basics of research proposals. Topics covered will include the goal or purpose of research proposals, common elements that should be included, and differences in expectations between disciplines. The session will end with tips for getting started on writing and accessing additional resources as needed.
