Assists Leader: Sofia Jones, Paige Payne, Julia Babicz, Mikaela Cadorette: 1 Assist
Points Leader: Sofia Jones: 3 Points
Saves Leader: Madi Doyle: 4 Saves

Player to Watch: Sofia Jones, F
The reigning Canada West 3rd Star of the Week, Jones has speed to burn and put it to good use on opening weekend. The San Francisco native leads the TWolves in goals and points, and will need to be aggressive in applying pressure to a very strong Saskatchewan backline.

Saskatchewan Huskies (2-0-0)
1st in Prairie Division Standings
6 Goals For
1 Goals Against

Assists Leader: Gabruch, Hayward, Wiegers, Zapski, Zdunich-Costa, Gannitsos-Clark: 1Assist

Player to Watch: Maya Gabruch, F
Pacing the conference in goals (3) and game-winning goals (2) Gabruch has started the season on fire for the Huskies. Saskatchewan scored six times in two games to open the year, and the TWolves will need to keep an eye on the 4th-year forward if they want to try to contain a potent Huskies attack.

UNBC @ Regina
September 15th, 2019 @ 3:00 PM

UNBC Timberwolves (2-0-0)
1st in Pacific Division Standings
4 Goals For
0 Goals Against
Goals Leader: Sofia Jones: 2 Goals
Assists Leader: Sofia Jones, Paige Payne, Julia Babicz, Mikaela Cadorette: 1 Assist
Points Leader: Sofia Jones: 3 Points
Saves Leader: Madi Doyle: 4 Saves

Player to Watch: Ashley Volk, M
A veteran midfielder with high soccer IQ, Volk provides a steadying presence and intelligent distributor to the UNBC lineup. Regina’s roster is full of speed, so the Victoria native will need to be decisive and impactful with the ball at her feet.

Regina Cougars (1-1-0)
5th in Prairie Division Standings
3 Goals For
4 Goals Against
Goals Leader: Jet Davies, Olivia Gables, Jessica Merk: 1 Goal
Assists Leader: Kyra Vibert: 1 Assist
Points Leader: Davies, Gables, Merk, Vibert: 1 Point
Saves Leader: Kylie Bolton: 6 Saves

Player to Watch: Kylie Bolton, G
A freshman starter in 2018, Bolton made an impact for the Cougars early in her Canada West career. A native of Sherwood Park, she had the fourth best save percentage in the conference (.813) last season. The Timberwolves’ attack looks to be improved this season, so the five-foot-seven keeper will need to be on her game.

Milestones:
-Brooke Molby reach 20 games played last weekend vs TRU
-Ashley Volk reached 30 games played last weekened vs UBCO
-Brooke Molby needs 1 save to reach 100 for her UNBC career
-Sofia Jones needs 1 point to reeach 10 for her UNBC career
-Hannah Emmond needs one game played for 20 in her career

Quotes: UNBC’s Brooke Molby

On the success of opening weekend…
“I’m super happy with the results from this weekend. Starting off the season with 6 points and two clean sheets is the best result we could ask for. I’m thrilled for the results, but I’m most proud of how the girls performed this weekend, from first year to fifth year. We’ve shown what we can do, now we just have to keep growing and fighting for the rest of the season.”

On the experience of Prairie roadtrips…
“Going on the road is always a fun but trying experience, especially in first year. We’re travelling all the way to Saskatchewan so my advice to the first years is take time to rest when you can but remember to enjoy the time with the team and be focused when game time comes. These trips with your teammates are what you remember in the long run, not the results.”

On the matchup with Huskies…
“Last year the Huskies had some quick forwards that exploited little mistakes in our backline. They’re quick in their passing and attack so I think we need to be extra sharp this weekend in the backline. They will capitalize on our mistakes, so we just have to make sure we’re ready to recover and finish our chances as well.”

On expectations of the Cougars…
“The Cougars were dangerous on set pieces and through balls last season. For us to succeed against them we need to be willing to put our bodies on the line and head the ball as much as possible. Through balls are always a threat, so communication between our backline and Madi (Doyle) and I will be key. We are capable of doing well against this team, we just need to stay organized and focused throughout the game.”
