February 14th, 2020 at 5 PM PT
UNBC Timberwolves - Record (11-9)
9th in Canada West Standings
73.6 Points Scored Per Game
69.3 Points Allowed Per Game
Scoring Leader: Maria Mongomo (20.1 Per Game)
Rebounding Leader: Emma vanBruinessen (10.2 Per Game)
Assists Leader: Emily Holmes (3.9 Per Game)
Steals Leader: Maria Mongomo (3.4 Per Game)
Blocks Leader: Emma vanBruinessen (0.6 Per Game)

Player To Watch: Maria Mongomo, F
20.1 PPG, 9.8 RPG, 2.4 APG, 3.4 SPG

After a quiet start to the 2019-2020 season Mongomo went on a tear. Over the last ten games of the Canada West year, the native of Las Palmas, Spain AVERAGED 25.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 3.7 steals per game. With Sergey Shchepotkin’s team only carrying six healthy players, the conference all-star will need to be at her best as UNBC battles a deep, athletic Lethbridge program.

Lethbridge Pronghorns - Record (11-9)
8th in Canada West Standings
68.5 Points Scored Per Game
65.7 Points Allowed Per Game
Scoring Leader: Kacie Bosch (16.6 Per Game)
Rebounding Leader: Katie Keith (9.3 Per Game)
Assists Leader: Asnate Fomina (3.6 Per Game)
Steals Leader: Kacie Bosch (3.0 Per Game)
Blocks Leader: Amy Mazutinec (0.6 Per Game)

Player To Watch: Kacie Bosch, G
16.6 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 2.7 APG, 3.0 SPG

There are few players in the conference who possess the diverse skillset of the fifth-year guard. Bosch can handle the ball and play distributor, can crash the boards at both ends, and leads the Horns in scoring. A Lethbridge product, she will surely be looking to extend her university career, so the TWolves will need to meet the Canada West all-star’s energy and intensity.

Quotes:
UNBC’s Madison Landry

On mindset, with just six healthy players…
“We obviously have a short bench, but we still feel so much support from our injured players, coaching staff and community. We have been up against tough circumstances for weeks now, but it’s that support that pushes us to keep giving our all.”

On the matchup with the Pronghorns…
“Lethbridge is really talented and deep. They came to town last year and were really good at both ends of the floor. We expect them to come out very strong. We are very close in the standings, so it’s really anyone’s game and a matter of who wants it more. We can expect a good fight from them.”

On preparing for playoff games on the road…

“It is one road game. We need to be mentally prepared. It’s their home gym and we have to go in with the mindset that we have nothing to lose.”

On the regular season efforts…
“I’m very proud of how we competed this season, despite all the obstacles and injuries we’ve had to overcome. We had a slow start but we persevered and kept growing and building the program, and all our hard work paid off in the end. I’m proud of how we stuck together and didn’t give up in the face of adversity.”
