UNBC Students Showcasing their Research at the 7th Annual Graduate Conference
March 1, 2012
This week, fun will be mixed with serious academic research at the seventh annual Graduate Conference at the University of Northern British Columbia. 52 students from UNBC’s 23 graduate-level programs will be putting their best scholarly feet forward with displays of their research in the Bentley Centre and the Gathering Place at UNBC’s Prince George campus from 9am-5pm on March 1-2, 2012. “We’ve encouraged as many grad students as possible to showcase their work,” says event coordinator and UNBC grad student Kim Brown of Prince Rupert, who is pursuing her Master of Education degree in Counseling. “It’s a great place to present your research in a fun and less intimidating setting.” The keynote speakers at this year’s conference will be current Prince George city councillor, Dr. Albert Koehler, who will be presenting “Education, Science, and Engineering” at 10am on Thursday in the Gathering Place, and UNBC history professor Ted Binnema, who will be giving his presentation “Do Salmon Eat Moose?” at 3:30pm on Friday in Room 7-212. The Conference will also include more light-hearted occasions such as a “Dance your Thesis” competition at the Thirsty Moose Pub at 7 pm on March 1, and a wine and cheese event in the Gathering Place at 5 pm on Friday. |
