Appointment of Vice-President Research Completes Executive Team

A professor with 13 years of experience at UNBC has been appointed
UNBC’s new Vice-President, Research. Gail Fondahl has been Chair of the
Geography and Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management programs for
the past five years and has attracted more than $1.3 million in
research funding during her UNBC career. She specializes in the
geography of indigenous peoples in northern regions and has been a
leader of a nationally funded research program at the University’s John
Prince Research Forest north of Fort St. James, which explores issues
of forest co-management with the Tl’azt’en Nation. Dr. Fondahl earned
her PhD from the University of California at Berkeley. “Dr. Fondahl brings a number of valuable attributes to this position: an outstanding research record, adept administrative skills, and a passion for UNBC’s commitment to research excellence,” says Interim President Charles Jago. “The volume of research activity at UNBC has been unheard of in Canada for such a small and young university and Gail will help to ensure that it remains a defining characteristic of UNBC in the future.” Dr. Fondahl joins an executive team that includes Dr. Jago and two other recent appointments:
