UNBC Hosts Summer Camps

July 15, 2005 for immediate release
The University of Northern British Columbia is hosting various summer camps at the Prince George campus to help occupy local elementary and secondary school students who are looking to occupy some time over the summer. UNBC students or alumni are instructors in all of the camps.
The Science University for Northern Youth (SUNY) began on July 4th, but it has week-long sessions running until the end of August. SUNY provides camps on the Life and Physical Sciences for youths aged 10 years old and up. There is also a Computer Science camp for those aged 12 years and older. SUNY takes a hands-on approach to science and technology and provides students with access to the state-of-the-art science and computer equipment at UNBC. For more details, visit www.unbc.ca/suny.
The University’s Computer Science program is offering two computer camps for students aged 15 years and older. A Coding Boot Camp will run from July 18-29 and include workshops on Java, Solaris, and various programming languages. A Robotics Camp will run the first two weeks of August and cover sensors, programming, response and movement, and speech. Each camp costs $100 (or $175 for registration in both sessions). For more information or to register, contact the Computer Science program at 960-6490.
