New Master’s Offering To Start In Terrace

March 3, 2005 for immediate release

A Master of Education degree in Counselling will begin in Terrace starting this July.

The part-time MEd degree will run from the summer of 2005 to summer 2008, with one course offered in each semester: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Courses will often be offered on the weekends or in intensive blocks to accommodate working students living throughout the Northwest region. Students interested in the MEd program must have a bachelor’s degree to be considered eligible for the program.

“Master’s level programs have been of particular interest to students here,” says Judith Lapadat, Chair of the Northwest region for UNBC. “In fact, this new program will mark the sixth time that we’ve delivered an entire master’s degree locally, and the second time we’ve offered counselling. We’ve also offered master’s degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction, First Nations Studies, and Community Health. In total, we’ve had about 75 local students in these programs.”

In total, there are just over 70 students currently taking courses at the Terrace campus.

Students interested in the new MEd in Counselling can visit the UNBC Terrace campus at 4741 Park Avenue or contact 250-615-5578.
