Nadrazsky to be on the Roster this Weekend
February 18, 2005 for immediate release
Forward Alex Nadrazsky of the UNBC Northern Timberwolves
will be on the roster this weekend for UNBC’s varsity basketball games in Prince George.
“Alex missed last weekend’s game against the University College
of the Cariboo because he participated in the All-Native Basketball Tournament
in Prince Rupert,”
says Zane Robison, Head Coach of the UNBC men’s basketball team. “Alex has met
with me and his teammates and we all support Alex in remaining with the team.
The All-Native Tournament is important for building sport and culture in the
First Nations community, and we’ll be investigating how to recognize this
tournament to better accommodate our players and our team. We also expect that
our student-athletes will be committed to the Northern
Timberwolves and to attending classes. Alex has re-affirmed his
commitment to the team and to completing his coursework. Our program takes the
academic side of being an athlete very seriously.”
The Northern Timberwolves are in action this weekend against
Langara and Capilano
Colleges. On Friday, UNBC
will be hosting the Langara Falcons at 6:30pm (women) and 8:15pm (men). On
Saturday, the games against the Capilano Blues will be at 6pm and 8pm. With a
record of 8 wins and 6 losses, the UNBC men’s basketball team is currently in
fifth place in the BC Colleges Athletic Association. The women are in third
position in the standings with a record of 10-4 and have clinched a playoff
spot. If the men’s team wins both games, they will clinch a berth in the
playoffs. The playoffs are March 3-5 at Capilano
College in North Vancouver.
