The Northern Medical Program is a collaboration between UNBC and UBC to train medical doctors in northern BC.
The vision for the Northern Medical Program was first announced in January 2001 at the National Health Summit in Prince George. Since then, meetings and public information sessions have been held all over northern BC to seek input and provide information. UBC and UNBC have developed a detailed program plan that has been submitted to the Government of British Columbia. It's expected the Northern Medical Program will accept its first students in 2004, pending government approval and funding.
