Call For Nominations - Honorary Degrees And Friend Of UNBC

Nominations are now being accepted for UNBC's two most distinguished public awards.
Honorary doctoral degrees recognize achievement in scholarship, research, teaching, the creative arts, or public service nationally and/or internationally.
The award Friend of the University of Northern British Columbia recognizes distinguished achievement in the areas noted above, but with a particular emphasis on those who have given of themselves to create, promote, or foster the development of the University.
Nominations must be sent to UNBC Registrar Alex Reed by Friday, September 14th, and include the following information:
· the name, address, and resume of the nominee
· a brief statement outlining the category in which the nominee is to be considered and his/her achievements
· the name, current address, and telephone number of the nominator
Nomination forms are available by contacting Allyson Truant in the Office of the Registrar at 250-960-6334. The award winners will be recognized at the 2002 Convocation ceremony.
Previous honorary degree recipients have included author Denise Chong, artist Bill Reid, and Founding UNBC Chancellor Iona Campagnolo. Friend of UNBC recipients have included Founders Tom Steadman and Murray Sadler and former northern BC pediatrician Kwadwo Asante.
