UNBC Orientation Activities Start This Weekend

August 24, 2001 For Immediate Release

Hundreds of new University of Northern British Columbia students have started to arrive in Prince George, in preparation for the start of the 2001-2002 academic year.
Approximately 300 new students will be participating in Student Success Week, a one-week program designed to familiarize new students with the University and the city. Events will include student workshops, recreational activities, tours of Prince George and of the campus, and presentations from various degree programs and student service departments. Student Success Week runs until Friday, August 31.

Classes start on September 4.
From September 4-8, Orientation activities will continue for all UNBC students. There will be a different theme for the activities on each of the days that week: Tuesday is Multicultural Day, Wednesday will feature displays from local community organizations, Thursday is Wellness Day, and student clubs will have displays on campus all day Friday. The annual Northern Backyard BBQ will be held on Saturday, September 8th, featuring Spirit of the West, Maestro, Fifth Season, Skin Cell, Big Bone Daddy, and Third Wave. Tickets are available for UNBC students only.
A detailed schedule of events is available for Student Success Week and for the Orientation activities that will be held during the first week of classes.
