UNBC Students Receive $540,000 In Scholarships And Bursaries

More than 350 scholarships and bursaries will be awarded during two student awards ceremonies at the University of Northern British Columbia. Tomorrow, students in arts, social science, and health science programs will be presented with their awards; next Tuesday, presentations will involve students in science and business programs. Both events will be held in the Canfor Theatre and begin at 7pm.

The total value of scholarships and bursaries this year is $540,710 - a 21% increase over the value of awards last year. The number of awards has risen by 15%.

New awards this year include the Anna Sorkomova Memorial Bursary (awarded to two students from Yakutsk, Russia) and the UNBC Scholars program, which provides an opportunity for northern BC's top high school graduates to earn a UNBC degree for free. 17 northern BC students are the first UNBC Scholars.
