The University of Northern British Columbia Nordic Ski Team has identified coaches and will compete at the provincial and national level next season.

Tony Fiala of Prince George will coach the Biathlon Team. Tony is a former Olympian and national champion and currently coaches the BC biathlon team. Pete Szar will coach the Cross-Country Ski Team. Pete is a level four coach (the highest certification of any ski coach in BC) and has a master's degree in exercise physiology. Both coaches will volunteer their time to the UNBC teams.

The Nordic Ski Team will compete in the intercollegiate provincial cross-country series next season and they have plans to race at the national championship. A national inter-collegiate biathlon series is also planned.

At a meeting with UNBC President Charles Jago yesterday, cross-country skiers Dallas Eng and Sean Rowell presented Dr Jago with the gold medals they received at the BC Cross-Country Ski Championships. Student biathletes Barb Sharp and Mike Moleschi also presented plaques to Dr Jago commemorating their participation at the World Junior Biathlon Championships this year in Slovenia.
