Tender Issued For Construction Of Enhanced Forestry Laboratory

August 28, 1998 For Immediate Release

The University of Northern British Columbia is now inviting tenders from general contractors for the Enhanced Forestry Laboratory on the University's Prince George campus.

The closing date for bids is September 14th.

The Enhanced Forestry Laboratory will be nearly 7200 square feet and be built adjacent to the student residences, west of the main campus buildings. The lab will be used by researchers to investigate a wide variety of forest management problems and opportunities in northern climates. It will consist of four separate compartments to allow the independent control of variables such as light and temperature.

Slocan Forest Products and its President I.K. Barber have pledged $500,000 toward construction of the Laboratory, which is expected to be complete in the Spring of 1999.
