Pilot project to bring cancer clinical trial care closer to home for northwest B.C. patients
The Northern Medical Program's Dr. Rob Olson is leading a northwest B.C. pilot project that aims to make it easier for rural cancer patients to participate in clinical trials. Olson is working with Terrace physicians who will be trained to provide patients with local follow-up care and trial-related examinations.
Water security in southern Asia
Accelerating glacier melt and the loss of mountain snowpack will have a significant impact on water security for people in the Himalaya-Karakoram in southern Asia. Geography Assistant Professor Dr. Joseph Shea co-authored a new paper in the journal Science examining which populations will be impacted and how different river basins will be affected.
Immersive STEM learning program debuting this fall for Indigenous high school students
A Science Escape at UNBC is a free immersive program which will offer participating Indigenous youth from Northern BC an opportunity to expand their STEM knowledge through active online learning, at-home experiments, and, when it becomes possible, a week-long on-campus experience.
