Tsimshian Sm’algyax Developmental Standard
Term Certificate Program;
For the next generation of Sm'algyax teachers.

Program Highlights
The Sm'algyax Developmental Standard Term Certificate Program (DSTC) is a university credit program that prepares students to teach Sm'algyax Language and Tsimshian culture in schools. This certificate is granted by the B.C. Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB).
A) The full program will meet the requirements for three separate UNBC credentials:
  1. Certificate in Sm’algyax Language, comprising 30 credits;
  2. Diploma in Sm’algyax Language, comprising 30 additional credits;
  3. Completion of the program – 23 credits.
Upon completion application is made to the TRB for the Developmental Term Certificate.
B) Upon successful completion of the DSTC, credits can be transferred to other UNBC programs to complete a full undergraduate degree such as a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Education.

Students must apply for admission to the UNBC prior to program start date and prior to registering for courses!
