NMP Class of 2018

Meet some of our 2018 graduates!

The Northern Medical Program is celebrating its eleventh graduating class - the Class of 2018!

This year's 31 graduating students received their long coat at a special NMP celebration on May 11 to mark their transition from students to doctors. The class includes 14 graduates from Northern B.C., including six from Prince George.

The graduates will now head into their next chapter of medical education - two to seven years of medical residency and fellowship training, depending on specialty.

Fifteen of this year's graduates will be entering family medicine residency programs in rural and smaller centres in B.C. and across the country. Five of those graduates will train in Northern BC – four in Prince George and one in Fort St. John (Rural Northeast). In addition, two graduates will be entering psychiatry residency in Prince George.Dr. Justin Bhullar

The remaining students have matched to a wide range of specialties including Obstetrics and Gynecology (3); Internal Medicine (4); Hematological Pathology; Medical Microbiology; General Surgery; Anesthesiology; Urology; and Pediatrics.

The Northern Medical Program graduation celebration precedes the formal graduation for the students, taking place at UBC on May 23, at which they will receive their official medical degrees.

The Northern Medical Program is a distributed program site of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC), delivered in partnership with UNBC.
