Dual credit programs

Applications for Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 will open in late-February 2024.

Dual credit students can take up to one course (plus laboratory section, if applicable; up to four credit hours total) per UNBC semester of study that overlaps with their high school academic year.

Funding

There is no application fee for the UNBC dual credit program.

Domestic students attending a public high school in B.C. with which UNBC has a dual credit agreement are eligible to receive B.C. Ministry of Education funding for the tuition fees for any dual credit courses taken at UNBC.

Students attending an independent high school in B.C. with which UNBC has a dual credit agreement may be charged UNBC tuition fees at the applicable rate, either directly from UNBC or through their high school. Independent high school students are ineligible for the B.C. Ministry of Education dual credit funding.

Eligibility

Prospective dual credit students must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  • Currently attend a high school with which an UNBC dual credit agreement exists.
  • Be in good academic standing in high school.
  • Receive and include the recommendation of their high school and a parent or guardian to apply for dual credit.
  • Be able to pay for their textbooks and any course fees that may be charged.

B.C. high school students who do not attend a high school with which UNBC has an active dual credit agreement may be eligible for head start entry from a B.C. high school.
