Date:
Friday, November 27, 2020 - 1:30pm
Location:
Blackboard Collaborate

Hello students,

The UNBC Research Ambassadors are hosting a new series on BlackBoard Collaborate, called ‘Research Your Way to Success’ at 1:30 pm on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month. In these interactive video conference meetings, you can tune in to:

  •       Learn about discipline-specific pathways to get involved in research.
  •       Connect with faculty and fellow student researchers to become more familiar with research opportunities.
  •       Learn about the applied benefits of research both on a personal and societal level.
  •       Learn about how the skills developed in a regular course can be instrumental in engaging in formal research.

The fourth session will be on November 27, 2020 at 1:30 pm with special guests Jessica Smart, MSc candidate, Natural Resources & Environmental Studies (UNBC) and Kerrie Pickering, PhD candidate, University of the Sunshine Coast. Their presentation will be about 'Doing Research Remotely.'

Kerrie and Jessica are part of the Environmental Change Research Group, led by UNBC associate professor and Canada Research Chair in Cumulative Impacts of Environmental Change, Dr. Tristan Pearce. Their most recent research has examined remote communities in the Arctic (Jessica) and Fiji (Kerrie). In this session, they discuss the factors that shaped their research interests, collaborating remotely as a research team, and the many challenges associated with conducting research during the pandemic
